In the body it is found in the skin, inside joints, in the eye sockets and in other tissues where it can help retain moisture and improve elasticity and flexibility.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>What are they for?<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As the face ages the cushioning lipid pads beneath the skin start to shrink and there is less structure for the skin to sit on. The skin takes on a looser appearance and sits in folds around the nose and mouth. The grooves that run from the nose down to the lips are called nasolabial folds and the folds that run from the corners of the lip down to the chin are called marionette lines. Fine lines can also appear on the upper lip. Dermal fillers can be used to fill these folds which then provides underlying support for the skin and produces a more youthful appearance.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>How does it work?<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Dermal fillers contain different length strands of hyaluronic acid which, once administered, are able to absorb water and increase in size to provide a youthful plumpness to the folds and creases in the skin. This can be due to the presence of anaesthetic in the skin and multiple insertion of the needle which will cause some bleeding and bruising.
